If you are...
A parent who would like to have a child involved in a sports activityYour child will grow as a person in our safe, structured environment. They will learn to follow directions, lead by example, and, eventually, lead a warmup session and demonstrate teaching segments. They will learn to handle themselves confidently when dealing with physical pressure, develop empathy for others, and develop athletically as they challenge themselves to perform new techniques. Several of our coaches have their sons and daughters in the program for all these reasons. You and your kids can even work out together, so you can get your exercise in at the same time. Our coaches are certified by USA Judo (the official US Olympic judo organization) and have anywhere from 5 to 40 years of experience with the sport, so your child will be in competent hands. |

An adult looking to get in shapeMany of our adult students started judo in their 40s, and the oldest student is in his late 60s. Judo is very challenging athletically, and it rewards its practitioners with big gains across the full spectrum of fitness indicators: stamina, dexterity, balance, functional strength, body awareness, and flexibility. We offer a safe and friendly atmosphere where you can challenge yourself to achieve your fitness goals. |

A martial artist seeking to cross-trainJudo is a jacketed grappling style, in the same family as jiu-jitsu and sambo. If you are a wrestler, you will learn the dynamics of jacketed stand up, and learn about submissions (joint locks and chokes). If you come from a striking background, like boxing, karate, tae-kwon-do, muay-thai, or kung-fu, judo will teach you what to do in a clinch and on the ground. If you are a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner, you will learn how to deliver devastating takedowns and achieve an advantageous position from which to submit. |
